Long Days and Ambre Solaire

Visual memories of family holidays.

Ambre Solaire wafting in the air, ice cream melting down my arm in the summer sunshine, eagerly awaiting more time to frolic on the beaches. I am always amazed how an image or a smell can reveal a buried memory, in this painting I have focused on the sensations of cold melting ice cream coupled with the evocative aroma of Ambre Solaire worn by my mother - a warm enveloping scent that pervades to this day.

Long days, seemingly endless, huge soft skies offering a gentle embrace at the end of the day.

Second image shows the painting framed and in situ.

Mixed media on canvas in a wooden frame, 120 x 100cm plus frame
